Carifesta: 11 days to go

Haitian artists and groups participating in the Carifesta opening ceremony on 21 August will be: Emeline Michel, James Germain, Erol Josué, Bethova Obas, Jerrie Longchamp, Carole Demesmin, the Lynn William Rouzier Dance School, Ballet Bacoulou, Ayiti Choeur de femme, Tabou Combo.

Among the foreign artists that we will be happy to see during the festival, there will be the Barbadian Alisson Hinds – the interpreter of the famous headline “Roll it gal” (she sang “Let’s go” with the Haitian group Harmonik), Julia Varis – artist well known in Mexico, Ophelia Marie – a great figure of Dominica, Biggie – an idol in Barbados.

The exhibit of Leroy Clarke fromTrinidad, will be held at Nader Gallery. Entrance to the exhibition is free.

The opening of the exhibition “Share Memory” at the National Pantheon Museum, will take place on August 20 and is the first major event of Carifesta XII Haiti.

Saturday, August 22, the President of the Republic, Michel Joseph Martelly, accompanied by “Masquerade” from Barbados and Guyana, will officially open in the Grand Market Champ de Mars by symbolically cutting the ribbon. An opening ceremony will also be held at the Grand Market with the Representative of Antigua, Rara Leogane, the Ballet of the National Theatre, Bélo, Trinidadian and Tobago Steel Pan, T-Micky and MC Kado.

CARICOM Secretary General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, will attend Carifesta the next to several Heads of Government of the Caribbean.
